I brought my car to this place after the radiator had been leaking and the engine overheated, they supposedly "found" the issue and fixed it. After driving the car home (roughly 10km) I parked it and took the ferry to stay on the mainland for 2 weeks, when I returned today, we retrieved the vehicle and after driving for roughly 30km, the engine started to smoke and overheat. So my review is only 1 star - pending a timely resolution. Update: I appreciate the response to this review, and I completely agree that it is an unusual situation, It just felt so wrong to me to bring a car in because it overheated and then 40km after leaving the shop it over heated and boiled over. I have since had a red seal mechanic friend point out the only indisputable problem made by autocheck was not testing the car long enough to know that the over-heating engine issue was not actually completely fixed, as the radiator fan was broken. If they had just idle tested the car for 30 minutes, the radiator wouldn't have boiled over filling the cabin with smoke while I was driving 40km after getting it from Autocheck. I have since found the brand new part I needed for 75% less than I was quoted at Autocheck and my friend installed it. I have been a loyal customer of autocheck for 2 years and have spent well over $10,000 and I just feel like this is not good business practice for any mechanic not to do a thorough test that the car no longer overheats. I want to trust autocheck. Jayne & Dennis have always been excellent, but that incident was very dangerous and could have been prevented. I have already paid to have it towed, the parts, and the repair. I don't really know how this can be resolved at this point. Incredible service, lovely team of people, and really care about their customers. They got me in last minute, were efficient, and explained everything! 10/10 experience. So happy to now be a regular customer.

The entire team at Auto Check always goes the extra mile. I can always count on them to get me and my 26 year old Honda back on the road quickly every single time and never for a cent above what was quoted. (Sometimes it has been even LESS!) They've worked on just about every part of my old girl, and I wouldn't trust her to anyone else.

I’ve been taking my old Trackers to these fine folks for years. They figure things out quickly, give you a call, then get it done. Great service good prices. But yesterday I called Dennis got me in within 2 hours. The job was done again within a couple of hours. And I was on the road again. You don’t find that kind of service in too many places anymore. Plus the had a ride home for me until car was ready. Final note: they’re fun and they love dogs! Thanks guys! Bobby.

If you’re looking for an honest, reliable mechanic in Nanaimo, I can’t recommend Auto Check in Nanaimo highly enough. We were preparing for a cross-country road trip in the middle of July when the air conditioning in our Ford F-150 completely failed. With extreme summer temperatures and thousands of kilometres ahead of us, we needed an A/C repair fast. Unfortunately, several other auto repair shops couldn’t help us. Auto Check Nanaimo stepped up immediately. They actually pre-ordered the parts before we arrived so we wouldn’t lose valuable travel time. That level of customer service alone was impressive. The repair turned out to be much more difficult than expected. Replacing the A/C compressor on a Ford F-150 is a major job because it’s buried deep in the engine bay. To make matters even more remarkable, this was all happening on a Friday. The shop was supposed to close at 5:00 p.m., but instead of asking us to come back on Monday, the entire team stayed late to make sure we could continue our trip. Stefan, the owner (who is also a mechanic), personally jumped in to help, along with two other technicians and our outstanding service advisor. Everyone worked together until the repair was completed properly. Remember this is now Friday night! It’s rare to find an auto repair shop that genuinely puts customers ahead of the clock. Auto Check Nanaimo combines expert workmanship, outstanding customer service, and a team that truly cares about doing the job right. If you need Ford F-150 A/C repair, vehicle air conditioning service, or simply a trustworthy mechanic in Nanaimo, this is the place to go.
